DETROIT (WWJ) -- Authorities are asking for tips as they search for a suspect who may have set a vacant Detroit church on fire.
The incident happened back on April 28 of this year, at French Rd. and Montlieu Ave. on the city's east side.
According to the Detroit Fire Investigation Division, a Detroit Police officer was patrolling in the area of Mound Rd and Dwyer St., just before 9 p.m., when he saw heavy smoke coming from the east.
When he arrived in the 11800 block of French Rd. to investigate the source, he found a recently-shuttered church building, fully engulfed in flames.
Fire crews responded and put the fire out.
Based on details of the fire investigation, officials said this is now being treated as an act of arson.
Project Green Light video from the area revealed a suspect riding a bike toward the church with what officials said "looks like a turkey baster in his hand."
A few minutes later, the suspect was seen riding away from the fire.
On Tuesday, the Detroit Fire Investigation Division released a still image from the Green Light footage, in hopes that someone in the public might recognize him.
