(WWJ) Royal Oak Police are searching for a pair of young suspects in a stabbing outside a local senior center.
Officers responded at 2 p.m. Tuesday to the Mahany/Meininger Senior Community Center — at 3500 Marais, near 13 Mile Rd. — when the victim called 911 saying he was stabbed and needed help.
The caller, a 17-year-old from Warren, told officers that he and his friends met with two white males in the parking lot for a drug deal. As they were discussing the money, an argument ensued, and the suspects attempted to rob the victims, the victim reported.
There was a struggle, and one suspect stabbed the victim in his side, police said. The victim and his friend then ran away.
The wounded teen was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The victim's friend, another 17-year-old from Warren, was not injured.
Police said officers quickly set up a perimeter, searching with K-9s and help from the Clawson Police Department, but they didn't find the suspects.
The suspects have since been identified as 15-year-old residents of Royal Oak.
The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Royal Oak Police Department, Criminal Investigations Division Lieutenant Al Carter at 248-246-3456.
