OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. (WWJ) - A 19-year-old driver was arrested early Saturday morning after eagle-eyed authorities saw the teen toss something into the rear area of his vehicle while conducting a traffic stop.

According to the Michigan State Police, troopers patrolling Oakland County observed a vehicle blow through two red lights on 8 Mile Road while traveling at a high rate of speed a little before 1 a.m. Saturday morning.
The trooper pulled the vehicle over to conduct a traffic stop when she saw the driver throw an object into the back of his car as she approached. After questioning the teen driver from Detroit, she found that he had flung a 9mm Glock pistol.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the 19-year-old owned the handgun and he tried to hide it from officers because he did not have a concealed firearms permit.
The teen was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.
The female passenger was also found to have an open container of alcohol in the car and was cited for open intoxicants and allowed to leave.
The case is currently pending a prosecutor review and no other details were released by authorities.
