WELLS TWP. (WWJ) – Three teens are facing concealed weapons charges after Michigan State Police caught them doing donuts near the scene of a massive party in Tuscola County that was promoted on TikTok.
The party, dubbed “Project X 2.0,” according to a report from MLive, drew as many as 1,000 people on Friday, Aug. 5 at a property on Mona Road in Wells Township – near Caro in the Thumb Region.
MSP officials say they were aware of the party before it happened, thanks to the promotion on social media.
The night of the party, police received noise complaints and reports of fights and vehicles parked on roads in the area.
Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, an MSP sergeant was patrolling the area near the party when they spotted a car doing donuts in the middle of the intersection of Mona and Tin Bill Roads.
Authorities say seven people were inside the car while the driver was doing donuts. Three young men from the Lapeer and Oxford areas, ages 18-19, were carrying handguns at the time.
Officials said the guns were seized. Though they were purchased legally, the teens did not have proper permits to carry the weapons, according to MLive.
Authorities have not released the names of those arrested or specified what specific charges they will be facing.
MLive reported there were a TikTok account called august5thbash had videos promoting the event and a Twitter account by the same name had videos showing people drinking, fighting and jumping on cars.
The TikTok account no longer has any videos and the Twitter profile has been deleted.
