BLOOMFIELD TWP. (WWJ) -- Two 13-year-old boys remain hospitalized in critical condition, after they were hit by a pickup truck while riding an electric motorcycle in Bloomfield Twp.

According to police, the teens were riding together on the e-moto when they crossed Telegraph Road at Hickory Grove and were struck by the Ford F-250, just before noon on Labor Day.


EMS responded that the teens, were rushed to local hospitals for treatment.

The pickup driver, a 35-year-old Rochester Hills man, remained on the scene. Police said he has been cooperating with investigators.

Police noted that the boys were in the crosswalk at the time of the crash.

Further circumstances are still under investigation by the Bloomfield Township Police Department’s Traffic Division, along with members of the South Oakland County Crash Investigation Team (SOCCIT).

This incident comes amid a string of crashes involving young people on e-bikes and e-motos in the Metro Detroit-area.
