SUPERIOR TWP. (WWJ) — A Texas man has been killed in a crash on a Washtenaw County freeway ramp.
The crash happened around 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22 near Superior Township, just east of Ann Arbor, according to Michigan State Police officials
Brighton Post troopers were called to the area of westbound M-14 at the Ford Road exit that morning after getting calls about a single-car crash.
First responders found a 56-year-old man from Austin, Texas, pinned in the driver's seat. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
It appears the man was headed west on M-14 and when he tried to exit at Ford Road, he "failed to negotiate the ramp," according to MSP.
The man's car left the road, went into the ditch and hit multiple trees.
Family members told MSP the man was heading back to Austin after visiting family in Michigan. His name has not been released.
While the cause of the crash remains under investigation, officials said Monday alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the MSP Brighton Post at 810-227-1051.
