GROSSE POINTE WOODS (WWJ) – A lockdown at Grosse Pointe North High School has been lifted after a potential active shooter threat Monday afternoon.

The school went into lockdown shortly after 12:30 p.m. after the Grosse Pointe Woods Public Safety Department contacted the school to say they had received information that a possible active shooter event was happening at the school.

Administrators immediately placed the school on lockdown, according to a letter sent to parents.

Police promptly went to the school and searched it, before determining there was no active shooter. The lockdown was lifted shortly after and returned to normal status, with normal dismissal at 3:05 p.m.

Authorities have not released any further details about the tip police received about the threat.

School officials allowed families to pick up their kids from school early, while those with vehicles at the school were allowed to leave early if administrators spoke with a parent.
