State Police are investigating a crash along I-94 that left three people dead.
Police say a 39-year-old man was driving a Camaro at a high rate of speed on eastbound I-94 in Detroit around 2 a.m. Monday when he crashed into the back of a Mercury SUV near Outer Drive.
The Camaro driver and his 38-year-old passenger, along with the 61-year-old driver of the SUV, were taken to the hospital -- where all three died.
Police say excessive speed and alcohol are contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation. Toxicology reports are expected from the Medical Examiner.
The freeway was closed at Chalmers and Outer Drive until about 5 a.m.
