TOLEDO, Ohio (WWJ) -- The Toledo Zoo was evacuated on Friday after a call came in to security dispatch about a bomb and active shooter threat.

According to a statement from the zoo, the Toledo Police Department was notified immediately and was on site within ten minutes.

According to police, who spoke with local station WTOL-11, there was a supervised evacuation of the entire zoo, including several school groups.

Everyone was evacuated safely, including students who were bused away from the area.

Tactical units, K9 units completed a full sweep of the zoo, early in the afternoon, and police said the bomb squad was also called to the scene.

The zoo said the evacuation was "out of an abundance of caution."

Nothing dangerous was found.

There were no reports of any injuries, and police said there were no suspects in custody.

"Law enforcement investigated and confirmed that the situation is under control. There is no ongoing threat and everyone is safe," the zoo assed, later in the afternoon, adding:

"The Zoo has proactively strengthened its safety measures in recent years, including upgraded security and screening. Safety and security remain a top priority."

The zoo was closed to the public on Friday, but was expected to reopen on Saturday.

It's still unclear who made the initial call to security, as the investigation continues.
