Two officers shot during 4 hour standoff in Sanilac County

Lexington, Mich. (WWJ) - Two police officers were injured during a multi-hour standoff in Sanilac County.

According to Thumb-area news station WPHM, authorities responded to reports of "a man who was screaming and shooting a gun" on the 7100 block of Lester Street in Lexington, at around 10 p.m. Tuesday.


The suspect, a 38-year-old man, allegedly shot a Lexington Police officer in the arm before barricading himself in his home.

The St. Clair County Special Response Team was called to help with the situation, according to the article.

A St. Clair County deputy was hit in the leg when the suspect allegedly fired a pellet gun during an attempt by authorities to enter the residence.

The suspect was reportedly taken into custody around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, after tear gas was deployed.

The suspect is being held at the Sanilac County Jail. His name was not immediately released.

Both officers sustained minor injuries. Two police vehicles were also damaged during the incident.
