PONTIAC (WWJ) Two Pontiac brothers accused in a December shooting at an apartment complex, with a suspected “ghost gun”, were arrested and charged.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said members of their Fugitive Apprehension Team took Kentrell Norton, 18, into custody after a brief foot chase at an Orion Township mobile home park on Friday, January 10th. His brother Terrell Norton, 19, was arrested at a Pontiac home on South Sanford, in the area of I-75 between South and Auburn, a day earlier.

They are both held at the Oakland County Jail.

Prosecutors are charging them each with: four counts of assault with intent to murder, discharging a firearm into a building causing injury, carrying a concealed weapon, and five counts of possession of a firearm in commission of a felony.

The brothers were arrested in connection to a shooting on December 12 2024—in a primarily commercial area— on Auburn near Martin Luther King Boulevard. A Pontiac man, 29, was shot in his side.

No details were released about a motive for the shooting or the suspects’ connection to the victim, if any. The victim’s condition was not released.

Detectives found a “large crime scene” in the parking lot of the apartment complex with shell casings, as well as multiple apartments and vehicles that had been hit by gunfire, the sheriff’s office said.

After Kentrell’s arrest, detectives discovered a Polymer 80 “ghost gun” with no serial number during the execution of a search warrant. It’s believed to be the weapon used in the shooting. A “ghost gun” lacks a serial number and is often a homemade firearm.

According to the sheriff’s office; investigators also discovered clothes and ammunition used in the shooting at the home where Terrell was arrested.

“As I have said repeatedly, people that carry and use guns illegally need to have the most severe punishment as those are the ones most likely to hurt and kill others,” Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard said. “In this case, they used an illegal gun to shoot another individual. We look forward to the system holding them accountable.”
