(WWJ) — An investigation is underway after a crash in Northern Michigan left two drivers seriously injured.
Michigan State Police investigators believe alcohol played a role in the crash.
The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on N. Otsego Lake Drive near Gaylord. While not many details about the crash have been revealed, MSP officials say two vehicles collided head-on.
Authorities did not say how fast either vehicle was going at the time of impact.
Both drivers — a 40-year-old woman from Gaylord and a 38-year-old man from nearby Frederic Township — were seriously injured. The extent of their injuries was not disclosed.
Photos from the scene posted to the MSP Seventh District X page show two SUVs with severe damage and debris scattered all over the road. A large number of first responders were at the scene.
While MSP officials said alcohol "may be a factor in the crash," they did not specify which driver may have been impaired.
