ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - For die-hard football fans and fans of the University of Michigan, two goalposts from Michigan Stadium could be yours - if you have the room.

Officials for the University of Michigan have put the pair of field goalposts -- one from each endzone -- up for auction ahead of future upgrades.

The university approved $41 million dollars earlier this year to replace equipment throughout the Big House including goalposts, scoreboards in each end and the public address system.

Officials will also upgrade video production capabilities for all athletic facilities.

The two goalposts have been disassembled into 18-foot crossbars and 20-foot posts. Officials said the posts will require sandblasting prior to painting over and they must be picked up directly from Michigan Stadium.

The buyer is responsible for removal and loading.

Currently, officials had listed a zero dollar reserve price. The university is conducting a sealed auction and potential buyers must visit the U-M website to fill out a form prior to participating.

If potential buyers have any questions or concerns, the university has asked all inquires be directed to Mike Lollo by email at mlollo@umich.edu.

The auction is open now and bids will be accepted through midnight May 16 from the U-M Property Disposition Department.

Property Disposition said they reserve the right to refuse any or all bids in the bid do not reflect a fair value.
