HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ) - Detectives are searching for information to figure out what lead to a homicide that took place at a Highland Park hotel last week — but they need help from witnesses.
New footage released from Michigan State Police shows a possible suspect being sought by investigators in the June 2nd incident that left one woman dead.
According to authorities, a 911 caller contacted Highland Park Police around 1:30 a.m. last Friday and told them that they saw a door ajar at the Woodward Inn, located at 16375 Woodward.
When the caller entered the room, they discovered a 34-year-old woman. EMS personnel responded to the scene and rushed to assist the woman, but she was pronounced dead.
Investigators have been combing through evidence in the days since. Now, they're hoping the pubic can assist.
"While the video is from a distance and the photo is blurry we are hopeful that someone will recognize this person." MSP F/Lt Mike Shaw said.
The video captured the possible suspect walking and then running in the hotel parking lot the night of the homicide.
Police described the suspect in the video as wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt or jacket (hood was up), black adidas jogging pants with white strips on the legs with an adidas emblem on front with black Nike shoes with white or grey emblem on tongue.
At this time, police have not released the victim's cause of death and it remains unclear if a motive has been determined by homicide detectives.
Anyone who may recognize this possible suspect or who has any other information on this case, has been asked to call 855.MICH.TIP or Crime Stoppers at 800.SPEAK.UP.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned to WWJ LIVE for the latest updates.
