Violent night: 6 people shot in 6 hours in Detroit

(WWJ) Police are investigating after six people were shot over a period of six hours, in five separate incidents in Detroit.

Fortunately, all of the victims — who ranged in age from 22 to 70 years old — are still alive.

The first shooting happened just after 11 p.m. Monday in the 14800 block of Hubbell on the city's west side.

Police said the victims, a 22-year-old man and a 53-year-old man, were getting out of a car where they were shot by a man wearing all black clothing and a ski mask .Both went to a local hospital where the younger man was listed in temporary serious condition and the older man was in stable condition.

The next shooting happened at around 2:50 a.m. in the 14100 block of Minock, near Schoolcraft and Evergreen Rd., when he was shot by an unknown suspect. The man was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

A short time later, just after 3 a.m., police said a 25-year-old woman was shot while driving in the 13600 block of Cedargrove, just east of Gratiot Ave., on the city's east side.

The victim and her passenger, a 25-year-old man, heard gunshots and the woman realized she was injured. She was taken by EMS to a local hospital where she was last reported in critical condition.

Just minutes after that shooting, at around 3:15 a.m., a 70-year-old man was shot in the area of W. 8 Mile Rd. and Schaefer.

Police said the man as driving in a black Toyota Camry when an unknown suspect pulled alongside him and opened fire.

The driver was shot and was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Lastly, at 4:45 a.m., police said a 35-year-old man was shot in the area of Lakewood and East Jefferson.

The victim, who was with a 30-year-old woman, said they were approached by two unknown men. One of the suspects pulled a gun and fired shots, striking the man in the body.

The victim went to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

As the investigations into all of these incidents get underway, no suspects have been named or described. Police said all of this information is preliminary, and could change upon further investigation.

Police have not indicated that they believed any of these incidents are related.
