(WWJ) Detroit Police are searching for a man accused of stabbing a woman inside a laundromat.

It happened early last Saturday, Jan 2, in the 12900 block E. 7 Mile Road, west of Schoenherr, according to investigators.

Police said the suspect approached the 27-year-old victim while inside the business, at around 2 a.m. As she began to back away from him, he pulled out a knife and stabbed her,

Police said the stabber took the woman's purse and fled, while she ran to a nearby gas station for help.

The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect — who was caught on camera — is described as a Black male, clean shaven, with a medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a black skull cap, black coat with a hood, tan shoes and a black sweater with "Detroit" on the front. The sweater also had a red and white design on the bottom of it.

He had rings on each finger of his right hand, police said.
