WANTED: Suspect in black van who fired into crowd in Detroit [PHOTO+VIDEO]

(WWJ) Does anyone recognize this van?

Detroit Police are asking for help in identifying and locating a suspect vehicle in a drive-by shooting that wounded at least half-a dozen people.

At around 10:15 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, police say a passenger in a dark colored van (pictured) opened fire into a crowd of "innocent by-standers and children" gathered for a candlelight vigil at W. McNichols and Asbury Park.

After the shooting, the driver of the van fled west on W. McNichols with the shooter still inside.

Six wounded people were rushed to Sinai Grace Hospital; at least one of them with critical injuries. A seventh shooting victim showed up at another hospital, according to reports.

On Friday, Detroit Police released a photo and a short video clip from a Project Green Light camera of the van.

Speaking at a news conference this week, Interim Police Chief James White pleaded for tips in this and several other recent shootings in the city.

White said he knows people are scared, but: "We need the community's help. We need the community to let us know what they see, what they have, so that we can bring these folks to justice... We have to get to a point where enough is enough."

Anyone who has information about this suspect vehicle, the suspects, or anything that could help detectives with this case is asked to call Detroit Police Department's Homicide Unit at 313-596-2260. To remain 100% anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up (1-800-773-2587).
