A Warren city councilman accused of handcuffing a woman who put Black Lives Matters stickers on campaign signs for President Donald Trump is facing misdemeanor charges.

Eddie Kabicinski is facing misdemeanor charges of assault and battery and impersonating a public officer. The woman is not facing any charges.

Authorities said the incident happened during a rally for Trump two weeks ago, and freep.com is reporting a group called the South Warren Alliance of Radical Movement plans to ask Kabicinski to resign or be censured by the Warren council for his actions.

According to a police report obtained by the freep, the 24-year-old woman stuck three small Black Lives Matter stickers on the Trump signs that were placed along Stephens. Kabacinski chased her down and grabbed her; and she sprayed him with silly string. He handcuffed her and called authorities to come and collect her.

Kabacinski told C&G Newspapers he detained the woman because she acted to "breach the peace" and he believed his status as a former military police officer allowed him to "detain those who breach the peace or break the law."

"Putting a decal sticker over a Trump sign, and it says Black Lives Matter, you are promoting a domestic terrorist organization on a Trump sign and that’s not good," he told the newspaper. "That’s not the image that the Trump campaign or the Republican Party is trying to convey. We are trying to get back to law and order in this country.”
