WARREN (WWJ) - A 21-year-old suspect wanted in connection to a fatal shooting at a Marathon Gas Station in Warren last week was tracked down and arrested by authorities Friday afternoon.
Commissioner William Dwyer announced the arrest of homicide suspect Christopher Slade after the Warren Police Department Investigators and U.S. Marshal's deputies located Slade at a residence on Detroit's west side.
Dwyer said Slade was taken into custody without incident.
“The Warren Police Department made locating Slade its number one priority," Dwyer said. "Thanks to the work of the Special Operations Unit, the Detective Bureau, and members of the US Marshal’s Office, Slade was able to be taken off the streets without further violence occurring."
Slade is being held at the Warren Police Department jail while waiting for his arraignment scheduled for April 4.
He is currently facing possible murder and gun charges in the death of 46-year-old Talal Shamo who was shot and killed on Wednesday, March 23, at the Marathon gas station on Ryan Road, just north of 8 Mile Road.
Police said Slade was captured by surveillance video in the victim's car twice on the day of the homicide; so far, investigators believe the possible cause of the shooting was a drug deal turned sour.
Dywer said another suspect, 22-year-old Joshua Carter, had turned himself into authorities on Tuesday, March 29; Carter was arraigned on charges of first-degree murder and a felony gun charge.
The police commissioner commended the officers involved in tracking down the two suspects and bringing them to justice.
"This is yet another example of the Warren Police Department’s commitment to working nonstop and using all available resources to locate violent offenders and take them into custody.”
