WARREN (WWJ) A mother and her adult son died in an apparent murder-suicide in Warren, police said.
Warren Police said they were dispatched to a home on Geoffry— near 12 Mile and Schoenherr— for a domestic assault, on Sunday (10/20) around 8:22 a.m. A man, 33, told officers his mother pointed a gun at him after he woke up this morning. The man ran to a neighbor’s house for help after a brief struggle with his mother.
After he called 911, officers arrived at the scene and attempted to make contact with the mother in her home. She did not respond.
“Moments later, officers heard multiple gunshots coming from inside the home,” the press release from Warren Police read.
Officers made tactical entry into the home--where they discovered the mother had shot her adult son with special needs, 26, and herself; police said.
Police requested backup from the Warren Fire Department to attempt lifesaving efforts. The mother and son were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said the mother does have a history of mental illness, and there is “no apparent danger to the public.”
The investigation is active and ongoing.
