WARREN (WWJ) A Warren woman is dead, and her husband is in custody after he told police he killed her in an apparent murder-attempted suicide.
In a statement; Warren Police said their dispatchers received a call from a man, 71, on Saturday (7/13) around 2 p.m. The caller told dispatch he had killed his wife, 70, “several hours ago”. Warren Police arrived at their home on Loretta (24,000 block), near Stephens and Ryan.
Officers spoke with the suspect who said he tried to take his own life after killing his wife. They took him into custody “without force or incident.” He had bandaged wrists, according to police.
Police said officers found the victim dead inside the home, and evidence that pointed to her cause of death as a homicide. No one else was home at the time, they said.
Warren Police and Evidence Technicians are at the home processing the scene for evidence.
The Warren Fire Department took the suspect to the hospital where he is under police guard.
“There is no threat to the community,” police said.
Police described the investigation as “open and active.”
Police said detectives will present the evidence to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.
