WARREN (WWJ) — A man has died after being shot by a woman whose house he broke into in what Warren police officials say was a domestic violence incident.

It all unfolded around 4:20 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, when police were called to a woman’s home on Bolam Street, near 10 Mile and Groesbeck, regarding a shooting.

Police officials say a 29-year-old man had been shot in the abdomen and fled the scene. He was found on a nearby street and rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators learned the man had been shot by the 33-year-old woman who lived at the home. She was taken into custody at the scene without incident.

Authorities say the woman admitted to shooting him and told investigators the two had “dated on and off” for a while.

Prior to the shooting, police learned the man had forced his way into her home and chased her, before she fired one shot at him.

Investigators have confirmed “an extensive domestic violence history at the residence” between the two, but no specifics were provided.

There’s no known danger to the public stemming from the incident, according to police. Police are still investigating the shooting and looking into exactly what happened leading up to the shooting.

Anyone who knows something is asked to call Detective Carla Rexford at 586-574-4790.
