AUGUSTA TWP. (WWJ) — A Washtenaw County church employee is behind bars as police investigate him for alleged sex crimes involving minors dating back more than a decade.
Michigan State Police officials on Monday said 29-year-old Zachary Radcliff has been arraigned on several charges, including criminal sexual conduct and other charges relating to child sexually abusive material.
The investigation began in early October when MSP got a tip that Radcliff, an employee at Oakwood Church in August Township — about 15 miles southeast of Ann Arbor — had solicited child sexually abusive material from a minor.
Radcliff is facing 11 total charges -- one count of first-degree CSC, four counts of child sexually abusive activity and five counts of using a computer to commit a crime. His bond was set at $3 million.
Court records list the date of the offense as June 27, 2014. MSP officials say the victim, now an adult, recently came forward. It was not immediately clear whether Radcliff was a church employee at the time.
In an update Tuesday, MSP officials said the investigation shows that the age(s) of the victims range between 12-17 years of age at the time of the crime(s). The investigation also shows the alleged offenses have been occurring since as early as 2011, MSP officials said.
Authorities recently served search warrants at both Radcliff’s home and office at the church.
MSP officials have identified multiple victims and believe there are likely others who were victims.
No other information regarding the alleged criminal sexual conduct has been released. Officials did not specify Radcliff's position at the church.
MSP officials said leadership of the Oakwood Church “have been cooperative and transparent throughout the investigation.”
Authorities are asking any further victims to come forward. Anyone who knows something about Radcliff’s alleged crimes is asked to call Trooper Ryan of the MSP Brighton Post at 517-899-6174.
