DETROIT (WWJ) -- Several office buildings in downtown Detroit will be without water on Monday because of a water main break.
Crews from the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) are going to be repairing a two-and-a-half foot water line beginning on Monday at noon, WWJ's Jason Scott reports.
A 30-inch water main on Farmer Street near Bates Street, which serves several downtown Detroit buildings, began leaking late last week.
Buildings in the area of Woodward, Congress, Lafayette, and Beaubien can expect to be without water or have low water pressure when underground excavation begins this afternoon.
DWSD expects repairs to be completed by Tuesday morning, and will inform the building owners and businesses when the water is restored.
In the meantime, they will be advised to flush their plumbing for 30 minutes before they return to using the water for drinking, cooking, showering and/or brushing teeth in order to remove any particles that may end up in the water system due to the repair.
If residents or businesses need assistance, they should call DWSD at 313-267-8000.
