(WWJ) A West Bloomfield Township trustee is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say he hid surveillance cameras in women’s bedrooms and bathrooms.

The Oakland County Prosecutor's Office said 65-year-old Jibran Manna of West Bloomfield has been charged with two counts of capturing an image of an unclothed person and five counts of installing an eavesdropping device.

The investigation began when two adult women discovered cameras hidden inside smoke detectors in their bedrooms. Law enforcement officers later executed search warrants at Manna’s home, office, and cell phone, where they recovered additional surveillance devices.

According to investigators, Manna’s cell phone contained nude surveillance videos recorded from the victims’ bedrooms and bathrooms.

“This was an appalling invasion of privacy,” said Prosecutor Karen McDonald, in a statement. “The defendant’s alleged actions exploited his victims in spaces where they expected to feel safest and most private.”

A judge placed a $100,000 personal bond on Manna and will require him to wear a GPS tether if he posts bail. Manna also won't be allowed to use a computer or any device that can record, reside in his home or contact his stepdaughters.

He entered a plea of not guilty on seven felony charges, including capturing images of unclothed persons and eavesdropping.

If convicted, Manna faces up to five years in prison for each count of capturing an image of an unclothed person and up to two years in prison for each count of installing an eavesdropping device.
