There are nearly 10 million open jobs in America today. Is that because people don't want to work anymore?

(WWJ) – There are almost 10 million open jobs across the country, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. But in data released this week, there are only about 6.3 million available workers to fill those jobs.

What’s causing that gap of nearly 4 million people? Is it because "people don't want to work anymore" or is that platitude not exactly true. Getting an answer to that question can be complicated.

But on a new Daily J podcast, WWJ’s Zach Clark learns from experts there are many factors in play, including early retirees coming out of the pandemic, higher wage demands and lack of childcare.
