IRONS, Mich. (WWJ) -- A 31-year-old woman is facing a felony charge for allegedly stealing a truck in Northern Michigan, and driving it to a stranger's house.
According to Michigan State Police, troopers with the Cadillac Post got a call at around 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, about an "unwanted female" at a man's home on Peters Farm Road in Irons, west of Cadillac.
The homeowner reported that a woman he didn't know had pulled into his driveway, and got stuck in the ice and snow.
He said he helped the woman get the truck she was driving unstuck. But instead of leaving she proceeded back into the driveway, pulling further in this time, and parked next to his car.
Responding troopers identified the woman as 31-year-old Anna Grace Spaulding from White Cloud.
According to MSP, Spaulding told troopers the truck she was driving belonged to her father, and she was at her father’s house.
Troopers called for an ambulance to have Spaulding evaluated, but she became "combative" with EMS personnel, and forced her way out of the ambulance.
Troopers decided, due to her behavior, the best option would be to take Spaulding to the hospital themselves. While en route, police said, the troopers learned that the truck Spaulding was driving was reported stolen out of Lake County.
The truck’s owner had left the keys in the ignition, according to MSP.
Spaulding was evaluated at the hospital before being lodged in the Manistee County Jail. She was transferred to the Lake County Jail, and then arraigned in 78th District Court on Monday on one count Unlawful Driving Away of Motor Vehicle.
Spaulding was given a personal bond and her next court date was set for Dec. 18,
