TROY (WWJ) – A woman has been cited for operating while intoxicated after leaving a Troy gas station when police responded to a report of a domestic situation between a man and a woman.
Troy police officers were called to the BP gas station on Crooks Road near Big Beaver Road around 2 a.m. on April 9. When they showed up they saw a woman, later identified as a 29-year-old from Westland, drive away in a Buick Lacrosse.
As she headed south on Crooks, police pulled her over. Meanwhile, other officers spoke to the man at the gas station. Through speaking to them, authorities determined no domestic assault had occurred.
While speaking with the woman during the traffic stop, officers noticed her eyes were glassy and the SUV smelled like alcohol.
The woman denied having anything to drink before driving. Officers asked her to do several sobriety tests, but she performed poorly.
She registered a .186% on a preliminary breath test,
The woman was then arrested and taken to the Troy Police Lock-Up, where chemical breath tests showed results of .18%.
The driver was issued a citation for operating with a blood alcohol content of .17% or more. Her name has not been released.
