PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A woman has been charged in the fatal stabbing of a man at a hotel last week.

Authorities say 40-year-old Litara Sheila Jones, from Ypsilanti Township, has been charged with open murder. She is accused of stabbing 43-year-old Jermaine Javon Wright at the Days Inn on Carpenter Road on Nov. 16.

Pittsfield Township Police Department responded to a reported stabbing at the Days Inn at 4:35 a.m. on Nov. 16, police said. When police arrived, they found an unconscious man, later identified as Wright, with a stab wound to his chest. Police took a woman, later identified as Jones, into custody.

Police, Pittsfield Township Fire Department and Huron Valley Ambulance rendered life-saving measures and transported Wright to Trinity Health. He died at the hospital.

Jones was taken to University of Michigan Hospital for a medical evaluation and transported to the Washtenaw County Jail.

The Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office charged Jones with Open Murder on Nov. 18. Authorities say the felony is punishable by up to life in prison.

Jones was arraigned at 14A-1 District Court and denied bond.
