VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A woman's gut feeling that something wasn't right after seeing a skewed ceiling tile proved correct after she discovered a camera in the bathroom.
As reported by FOX 2, the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb, 13. The woman was at Anytime Fitness at 11780 Belleville Road in Van Buren Township when she investigated the shifted tile and found a cell phone, which had its camera trained on the women's restroom.
According to a police report, the women brought the phone to gym management and grew suspicious that they could possibly be responsible for its placement.
The woman called police and as officers were en route, an employee accused of putting the cell phone in the ceiling left the property through a back door.
During their investigation, police determined the phone is owned by an Ypsilanti man.
Detectives are still investigating the incident. Police said once a report is completed, it will be sent to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for possible charges.
