TROY (WWJ) -- A Detroit woman was arrested for drunken driving after police say she was found "passed out" behind the wheel of an SUV outside a donut shop in Oakland County.
Troy Police responded shortly after 6 a.m. on Sunday, May 26, to the Krispy Kreme on W. 14 Mile Rd., near John R Rd., to check out a person who was reported to be passed out in the driver's seat of a Ford Ecosport, which was parked halfway in a parking spot and running.
Police arrived and woke the driver, as a 26-year-old woman from Detroit. Officials said they noted that her speech was slurred, her eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and the vehicle smelled like marijuana.
Looking inside the car, officers spotted a ¾ empty bottle of tequila in the backseat, behind the driver.
The driver agreed to try some field sobriety tests but preformed poorly, and then refused to take a breathier test, police said.
She was arrested and taken to the Troy Police lock-up where she agreed to submit to a Chemical Breath Test that showed her BAC (blood alcohol concentration) was .131%. — which is well over the legal limit to drive in Michigan.
The driver was issued citations for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI), Open Intoxication, and PBT Refusal.
