ANN ARBOR (WWJ) -- An investigation is ongoing after an Ann Arbor woman was struck and killed on M-14, Sunday night.
According to Michigan State Police, the 45-year-old woman was riding in a Ford Explore with her friend, when the two began arguing.
The driver, a 32-year-old Ann Arbor woman, pulled over after the passenger demanded to be let out and opened the door.
Authorities said the pair had both been drinking at a restaurant and were on their way home when the argument started.
After getting out of the car, the woman ran across the westbound lanes of M-14 and was hit by a Jeep Compass driven by an Ann Arbor man.
Both the Ford and the Jeep driver initially stopped, MSP said; although the woman reportedly left the scene after checking on her friend and finding her dead.
She later told investigators that she panicked.
Police said she's being investigated for possible impaired driving, and couple potential face charges of Operating While Intoxicated and Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Traffic Crash.
No names have been released.
