WYANDOTTE (WWJ) -- A Wyandotte police officer was dragged while trying to stop a suspect allegedly involved in the theft of marijuana plants.
The situation began when the officer noticed a van in an alley around 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday. He then discovered two suspects allegedly stealing full-grown marijuana plants from a homeowner operating as a legal grower.
Following the robbery, one suspect took off on foot and another fled in a van.
The driver then hit a median, a tree, and a parked car as he attempted to evade police. At one point, the suspect dragged one of the Wyandotte officers.
After a chase that spanned five cities, the van eventually stalled, and police were able to arrest the suspect. The entire situation was captured by police body cam footage.
The chase is the latest in a string of incidents where suspects are fleeing from police in Wyandotte.
The suspect -- a 28-year-old man from Detroit -- is scheduled to be arranged on Wednesday. He was reportedly already on a GPS tether from a prior situation.
