DETROIT (WWJ) A 2-year-old boy is in critical condition at a hospital after falling from a 7th story window on Friday.
Deputy Fire Commissioner Dave Fornell says crews were called to the building on Bethune Street in the New Center neighborhood after he fell and found the mother with the child.
The boy had no obvious signs of deformities, Fornell told WWJ, but there were signs of a head injury.
Fornell says the child apparently fell into bushes and shrubbery, which could have helped break his fall.
The toddler was listed in critical condition at Children's Hospital with a possible head injury, according to Fornell.
Officials are not sure of the circumstances surrounding the incident, but Fornell says the mother was with the child at the time it happened and he was not left alone.
"If I was the mother, I'd be in church on Sunday," Fornell told WWJ.
