A man was arrested in Memphis after he broke into a house because he thought there were three dead bodies inside, police say. While the man was in the home, he also helped himself to some of the homeowner’s liquor.

The Memphis Police Department shared in a report obtained by WREG that they received a call from a woman who awoke to sounds of someone inside her home asking, “Is anyone home?”

The woman told police that she did not know the voice, and when she got up to investigate, she saw that the window to her roommate’s bedroom smashed, and that whoever entered her house had drunk some of her vodka, according WREG.

Afraid that the intruder was still in the home, the woman grabbed a butcher knife, called the police, and attempted to leave the house, MPD shared. However, when she looked outside, she saw a man yelling at nothing.

Officers responded to the scene and found the suspect, identified as Jarrett Kidd, outside in the street, WREG reported. When police attempted to detain him and ask him questions, he allegedly grabbed a rock and acted like he was going to throw it at them, police said.

Officers then deployed tasers, allowing them to take him into custody.

While he was under arrest, Kidd told police that he had broken into the home because there were three dead bodies inside, and he wanted to check on them.

Kidd was charged with aggravated burglary, resisting official detention, and vandalism under $1,000 or less, according to WREG.
