(WWJ) The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is reporting the state's record daily high of coronavirus cases since the virus arrived in March.
The MDHHS learned that 3,338 more Michigan residents have tested positive since Friday's daily case count was released: "While the data represents the date that the information was delivered to MDHHS from reporting labs, it does represent more current trends in disease occurrence. More than 96% of the test results being reported (Saturday) originated from specimens that were collected from individuals in the past five days," a state release read.
35 more people have lost their lives to the virus; 27 of the deaths occurred weeks or months ago and were identified through a Vital Records Review process.
MDHHS data reports approximately 1,150 adults are hospitalized with a confirmed case of the virus statewide, with just over 120 people on ventilators.
Region 2N, which is comprised of Oakland County, St. Clair County and Macomb County, has the most hospitalized patients; home to about 20% of hospitalizations statewide. To see a complete breakdown of hospitalizations by region, click here.

Hospital capacity statewide stands at 75.5% full, according to MDHHS. This includes all patients regardless of COVID-19 status. Ascension, Detroit Medical Center and Henry Ford are all at 80% capacity; Beaumont, 77%.
The statewide fatality rate stands at 4.5%, less than half of what it was in the early days of the pandemic. Still, close to 7,200 Michiganders have succumbed to COVID-19, according to MDHHS.
