A two-alarm fire in Treme this morning destroyed a restaurant and sent smoke high into the sky next to the I-10 over Claiborne Avenue. It happened at Roosevelt's Black Pearl at N. Claiborne Ave. and St. Philip St.

The restaurant had just finished breakfast service when the fire broke out. Capt. Edwin Holmes with the New Orleans Fire Department said there are no known injuries.

"Everyone is accounted for that should have been in the building," Holmes said. "Everyone that was supposed to be in that building is accounted for."

Fire engines were on the scene for hours pouring water on to the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
