7 people injured in 4 separate shootings in N.O.

Police in New Orleans investigate four overnight shootings that left seven people injured.

The first shooting happened around 10:00 p.m. Monday night in the 2200 block of N. Derbigny Street.


According to an NOPD initial report, one victim sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle.

An hour later police were called to another shooting in the 7700 block of Downman Road in New Orleans East. Police were notified of the shooting after a person showed up to the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. No word on the victim’s condition.

And three people were shot around 11:30 p.m. as they were driving on the elevated Westbank Expressway. It happened at the base of the Cresent City Connection bridge near where the old bridge toll plaza once stood. They were taken to a hospital for treatment

Around midnight there was a double shooting which happened at the intersection of Tulane and S. Claiborne Avenues. NOPD initial reports say two victims were shot. EMS took both victims to the hospital. Their condition is not known at this time.
