There will be a ton of first responders swarming Lakeside Mall in Metairie tonight -- but don’t be alarmed. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s office and Lakeside Shopping Center are hosting an active shooter training exercise.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s office says law enforcement, EMS, and fire departments from all over the metro area will participate, with 150-200 personnel expected to participate.
“This exercise is strictly proactive; Lakeside Shopping Center has not received any threats,” the sheriff’s office points out.
The exercise will happen tonight around 9:30 p.m.
