New Orleans, once again, puts on of the country's best Fourth of July fireworks shows tonight. It's time to 'Go 4th on the River.'
Spokeswoman Debbie Bresler says you can make a day of along the riverfront.
"4th Fest in Crescent Park at the French Market District is going to start at 4:30, with live music by the World War Two Victory Belles at 5:30, followed by Mojo at 7, leading into the 9 o'clock fireworks."
The General Kelly is going to be coming out at 6 o'clock...the fireboat that's going to have its plumes of red, white and blue water coming out as it cruises the riverfront."
And, she says it looks like we'll be blessed with clear skies tonight to view the spectacle, from both sides of the river. But, even if it should rain...
"You know, just look up," says Bresler. "You'll see the fireworks. You won't see the rain if it's raining. It's going to be great."
"It's just exciting to be able to celebrate the nation's independence as only New Orleans can."
Visitors are encouraged to bring their own chairs to enjoy the show. (Coolers, glass, and tents are not allowed.)

Another choice is down-home entertainment at Madisonville's Old Fashioned 4th of July.
"It starts with a parade at 11 o'clock," says Madisonville Mayor Jean Pelloat. "There'll be a horseshoe contest, which draws 20 to 30 different teams. There'll also be a watermelon eating contest, along with a rooster crowing contest."
The rest of the day includes family fun, a kids' beauty pageant, kids' games, contests, prizes, and food. The fireworks end the day at 8:30 along the Riverfront.
