Jefferson Parish authorities say a man died after trying to cross the street on his bicycle on the Westbank.
"Sheriff Joseph Lopinto reports that at approximately 1:28 am this morning, an unidentified white male was fatally hit by a vehicle in the 900 block of Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey," Public Information Officer said in an email. "The victim was riding a bicycle across the northbound lanes of Manhattan Blvd. when he was struck by a silver Infiniti sedan."
He says first responders were able to get the man medical attention, but they could not save his life.
"The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead."
Detectives are working to determine of anyone involved was impaired.
"Toxicology tests are pending."
