BREAKING NEWS: 9 kids injured when school bus overturns at bottom of Highrise

An overturned school bus at the bottom of the Highrise bridge coming into downtown has snarled the morning commute.

Nine children on their way to James M. Singleton Charter School were hospitalized after the bus overturned.  

Those children have all been transported to emergency rooms for treatment and observation.  

EMS says they are all listed in stable condition.

The crash happened in the just after 7am this morning at the peak of the commute coming in from the Eastern suburbs.  

The bus was seen on traffic cameras on its side with its roof buckled as it appears to have impacted with the concrete center divide.  

NOPD, State Police, New Orleans Fire, and EMS units were on scene.  Traffic on Westbound I-10 was getting by on the right shoulder until the entire roadway was closed off.  

Traffic was being diverted at Chef Highway around the incident and into downtown.  

The cause of the accident is not known at this time.
