Narcotics detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office arrested three women they say were involved in trafficking fentanyl, meth, and other illegal drugs out of a Slidell-area house full of children.
"Earlier this month, detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit began investigating 35-year-old Ashlyn George, who was suspected of distributing illegal drugs, including methamphetamine and fentanyl, in the presence of her 3-year-old child," said Lt. Suzanne Carboni with the sheriff's office. "Detectives with the Slidell Police Department assisted in the investigation."
Authorities served a search warrant Monday on George's home in the 5500 block of Grand Springs Road in Slidell.
"When detectives arrived, they located George, 24-year-old Olivia Barrentine of Covington, 27-year-old Morgan Clay of Mandeville and several juveniles inside the residence," said Carboni.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies searched the home and found 45 grams of methamphetamine, 30 grams of marijuana, more than 6 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 14 grams of synthetic marijuana, along with fentanyl, Adderall, and drug paraphernalia and cash.
George's three-year-old son was placed in the custody of the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services. The sheriff's office says the other children were released to their respective guardians.
George faces numerous counts of possession with intent to distribute various drugs, as well as two counts of cruelty to juveniles. Barrentine and Clay were both booked on charges of possession of methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
