
A Coast Guard crew was called into action after a boat struck a wellhead and started taking on water early Saturday off the Louisiana Coast.
"The Coast Guard medevaced one passenger aboard a fishing vessel near Venice, Louisiana," according to a news release. "Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at approximately 3:30 a.m. of a fishing vessel taking on water after striking a wellhead."
Officials say one of the three passengers sustained a head injury.
"A Coast Guard Station Venice shallow water boat crew and a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter aircrew responded."
The release says the boat crew arrived on scene and transported the injured passenger to local EMS at Station Venice.
"The passenger was transported to Ochsner Medical Center West Bank in stable condition."
