USA Today Sports

Joe Burrow's meteoric rise to becoming the top quarterback in the nation was capped on Wednesday wth his win of the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

Naturally, he becomes the first LSU Tiger to win the coveted honor.

Records Burrow now holds include the LSU single-season passing yards with 4,366 yards.  Single season touchdown record of 44.  The 44 TD's also ties Missouri quarterback Drew Lock's SEC record set in 2017.  Burrow surpassed the SEC record number of yards set in 1998 by Tim Couch of Kentucky by passing for 4,275 yards.

Other accolades include an LSU record of 314 passes on 401 attempts.  Throwing at least one touchdown in 16 consecutive games.  Passing for 300-or-more yards in 12 of the last 15 games, including six straight games.  And he holds the LSU record for ten 300-yard passing games in a season and 12 in his career as a starter.

The Unitas Golden Arm Award is presented by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation and is awarded to the nation's top quarter best exemplifying character, scholastic and athletic achievement.
