New Orleans has an operational airport once again, as forecasters foresee no further weather threats in our immediate future.

There were some fairly long lines at ticket counters early Sunday morning. But the airport hasn't really seen the anticipated flood of folks looking to flee the city after being grounded here by Barry the last couple of days.

"The airlines are ramping up operations, so it's not extensively crowded right now. But we are still advising people to get there at least two hours early," says Erin Burns, Director of Communications at Louis Armstrong International.

She says that could still change as the day progresses, more flights come back on line and people get packed and on their way. "But, for the most part, everything is back up and running as normal."

A lot of folks managed to get out of town ahead of the airport's anticipated closure.

"Friday we got really busy.We had some extremely long lines with so many people in town for a convention. And the concert was an issue, as well," Burns says.

But, Sunday, it looked like a lot of people may have decided that New Orleans isn't too bad a place to spend a couple of extra days

Airport officials, however, are urging travelers to check with their airlines about flight status. There were still a lot of cancellations at the airport Sunday morning.
