Cantrell on fans at Saints games: No final decision, but timeline may be iffy

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell today did not say definitively one way or another whether her administration will approve the New Orleans Saints' plans to host fans at the Superdome on the September 27 game versus Green Bay. The mayor said the city's priority is making sure public health isn't negatively impacted by kids returning to classrooms in New Orleans, which at the earliest would be 13 days before that game.

"We are continuing to look at our numbers and where we are in terms of public health before we make and I make a final decision," Cantrell said.

The mayor indicated the time between when in-classroom learning returns and the game is not going to be enough to have the information she needs to sign off.

"When you think about the timeline associated with kids getting back into the classroom, which is, again, September 14th through September 25th, around that, we really don't have a time in place to truly measure the impact," she said.
