Warming up then chilling way down as we ride the weather roller coaster

Cover Image

We are riding the weather roller coaster the rest of this week.

"A warming trend starts today," WWL-TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum told us. "The strong cold front will move through on Saturday."

He says we have a slight chance for showers today and tomorrow with highs in the upper 60s today and mid 70s tomorrow.

The front brings much more rain for Saturday.

"This will bring us a squall line of showers and storms. Some of the storms could be strong to possibly severe," Nussbaum explained. "The main threat is damaging winds, but I can't rule out a tornado or waterspout. Heavy rain is also likely and we could pick up about an inch."

He says ahead of the front it will be windy with highs around 70.

"Sunday will be much colder and windy with a mix of sun and clouds. The latest models are not showing as cold of an air mass, so high temperatures will only be in the upper 40s, but the wind will make it feel like the 30s."

Monday morning gets even colder.
