One of the presumed-positive coronavirus patients spoke by phone with WWL-TV this morning. Identified only as "Gene," he told WWL-TV's Eric Paulsen that since his test came back, doctors have been getting in touch with people who have been around him.
"Well, they've contacted everyone that's closely related to me and lives with me and contacted them and had them tested and everything," Gene said.
He told the station that after he went to the hospital with flu-like symptoms, they decided to test him for coronavirus after tests for the flu and other more likely diseases came back negative.
"Just felt weak," he said. "Shortness of breath, soreness, body aches."
Gene works in the hospitality industry as a driver, according to the TV station, and had been in contact with international tourists. He has been hospitalized since Monday morning.
