Coroner rules the death of the Saints season as "homicide"

A local medical examiner is weighing in on the no-call that led to the death of the Saints season and prevented them from going to the Super Bowl.

St. Tammany Parish Coroner Dr. Charles Preston says he has carefully reviewed evidence from Sunday's Saints loss in the NFC Championship.

"The Saints Super Bowl berth died of blunt force trauma to the head and chest," Preston said in a news release. "Manner of death was homicide. With sufficient evidence captured on video, one would expect appropriate authorities to take action." The coroner calls it a "Superdome debacle."

Preston says he himself experienced trauma from witnessing the event, like so many Saints fans.
